Boho Glam in Brooklyn

When given the opportunity to escape the bustling city and design for a country affair, most in the wedding industry would gladly accept the invitation.  But what if the situation were reversed, allowing a team of industry professionals the chance to bring the feel of a vintage, country wedding to a city as energetic and diverse as, say, Brooklyn, New York?  That was the exact opportunity set before the Stylwed team, when they joined forces with a renowned Philadelphia photographer Lianne Dunsing Photography and a trend-setting event design team from Boston Orchids N Blooms Event Design.  The collaboration that ensued lead to a styled project the team coined “Boho Glam in Brooklyn” and their goal was to do just that: bring a bit of Bohemian ambiance to the most unlikely of places.

After countless hours searching for the perfect location, the “set” for the shoot ended up being an enclosed city landscape in the Bushwick/Williamsburg section of Brooklyn.  Complete with a Koi pond, potted plants, and climbing vines, the space was a veritable urban oasis tucked away from the noise and rush of the neighborhood.  Of course accents that smacked of city life were by no means absent, nor did the team try to conceal or avoid these.  Rather, the harsh textures of cement and concrete were incorporated right alongside an airy tablescape of flora and luxury dinnerware.  Who knew that concepts of country style and city elements could coincide so beautifully?

Bohemian-inspired design typically involves free-spirited construction (of table pieces and hand-held bouquets) in which placement of flowers appears to have no rhyme or reason. To achieve such a look, the team’s designers utilized wispy greenery, as well as protruding blooms…sprays of loose, cascading flowers (like geranium and amaranthus) were all meant to appear chaotic, yet beautifully organized at the same time.

For an added dose of soft femininity, our model Kelli donned a tea-length, lace frock from Anthropologie’s, as well as some one-of-a-kind vintage jewelry pieces courtesy of A. Brandt & Son.  The end result of complete synergy between flora, vessels, fashion, and accessories was nothing short of amazing.

No styled shoot would be a success without the talent and sheer skill of its contributors.  The Stylwed team thanks the following artists and resources for their participation in this collaborative project:
